IMAGIKA To Release 'Portrait Of A Hanged Man' Through METALVILLE

September 17, 2009

San Jose, California-based metallers IMAGIKA have inked a deal with Metalville — the band and label pool launched by the Cologne, Germany-based company Flying Dolphin Entertainment Group UG — for the release of their new album, "Portrait Of A Hanged Man". The CD will be recorded at Fang Studios, with the mixing duties once again being handed by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque at his Sonic Train Studios in Varberg, Sweden.

Commented guitarist Steve Rice: "Metalville is great solution for us as a band. They will give us worldwide distribution and exposure while still retaining the rights and artistic control of our music.

"The collective experience involved in Metalville and Flying Dolphin Entertainment makes it an excellent choice for IMAGIKA who have always had the DIY approach to our music and career. This attitude by both band and label is even more relevant with the current direction the music industry is headed.

"We look forward to taking IMAGIKA to the next level.

"Regarding the release, IMAGIKA for the first time has collaborated with an outside writer in John Macko from FIFTH ANGEL. The title track was for a project John, Norm and I had been working on, but came out sounding like a great tune for IMAGIKA. It was a cool bit of fun working outside of our usual method and we were able to get a unique song from it.

"The music we've put together for this CD will be some of the most aggressive material we've done in awhile. Seven-string guitars, dark lyrics and thrashing riffs while still having all the melodic content we're known for. We always strived to not make the same record twice and I believe we've achieved that again."

"Portrait Of A Hanged Man" will include the following tracks, among others:

01. Halo Of Flies
02. Simple Servant
03. One Word
04. My Final Hour
05. Keep The Wolves At Bay
06. Portrait Of A Hanged Man
07. Scared To Death
08. G.H.B.
09. Shadow of the Cross

The band plans premiere a new track in November via MySpace.

IMAGIKA's last album, "Feast for the Hated" was released in the U.S. on May 20, 2008 via Locomotive Records. The CD was mixed at Sweden's Sonic Train Studio with Andy La Rocque.
